The previous assignments focused on domestic matters in US history. This last assignment explores America’s international role in recent decades. By the mid-20th century, the United States had become the dominant force in international relations. Some have argued that the United States’ military functions as the world’s “police.” This assignment covers the manner in which this shift occurred and the consequences the United States faces as a result of its status as “policeman of the world.” One can identify early steps this direction well before World War II, but in this paper focus on the period from the 1940s to the present. Take one of the positions as suggested below, draw from the sources listed, and present a paper with specific examples and arguments to demonstrate the validity of your position.
Possible position—in each case you can take the pro or con position:
- The American “policing” role developed because of the Cold War, but it became primarily a means for protecting and assisting economic interests for itself and its allies as illustrated by recent events as well as earlier ones.
- The American “policing” role has been exercised primarily to protect vulnerable peoples and regions from powerful oppressors or from regional chaos, as illustrated by recent events as well as earlier ones.
- The American “policing” role has had noble intentions and ultimate success during the Cold War, but in fighting terror it has gotten off track with some severe consequences.
- A position you develop on this issue with the approval of your instructor.
After giving general consideration to your readings and your research, select one of the positions above as your position—your thesis. (Sometimes after doing more thorough research, you might choose the reverse position. This happens with critical thinking and inquiry. Your final paper might end up taking a different position than you originally envisioned.) Organize your paper as follows, handling these issues:
- The position you choose (from the list above)—or something close to it—will be the thesis statement in your opening paragraph.
- To support your position, use four specific examples from different decades between 1950 and the present. (At least one example must be from the last ten years).
- Explain why the opposing view is weak in comparison to yours.
Length:
The paper should be 2-to-3 pages for the body of the paper. (The title page and Sources page do not count in these calculations.) Double-space between lines. Format instructions are below.

Something the Lord Made
/in Uncategorized /by JosephSomething the Lord Made
The relationship between Alfred Blalock and Vivien Thomas is legendary in the medical arena. The two men working together at Johns Hopkins Medical School, in the 1940s, invented cardiovascular surgery even though one was a physician and the other was his lab assistant (McCabe, 1989). Watch the film Something the Lord Made (Drake, & Sargent, 2004), and analyze it related to the concept of servant leadership.
Support your statements with evidence from the Required Studies and your research. Cite and reference your sources in APA style.

/in Uncategorized /by JosephImagine that you are a management consultant hired to improve the performance of groups in a place where you have actually worked, or workplace with which you are familiar. Create and describe a program that aims to improve the performance of work groups in that organization. This program should address some of the problems that commonly occur in groups (e.g., social loafing, deindividuation, groupthink) and also build on some of the strengths of groups (e.g., social facilitation). Address issues related to social comparison and the use of informational and normative influence. Also, describe how you would overcome reactance to your program, and how you would facilitate the development of leadership within the groups.

Tax Revenue Presentation
/in Uncategorized /by JosephOriginal work Please!
I would either go towards better transportation or marketing one of the less known attractions or something to do with the arts. Any of those would be a great draw. Since I live near Downtown Los Angeles, Anahiem, Buena Park, and Long Beach/San Pedro areas, it is a bit difficult to find something that isnt already working for the city. I know transportation may be a better subject, but also possibly something towards , lets say all the museums in and around Los Angeles? possibly using taxes to market that better?
ASSIGNMENT:
You are a hospitality executive in your city. An elected official has asked you for your opinion on what to do with local tax revenue. One option is to invest the money back into the hospitality industry for venues such as a convention center and sports arena, or to use the revenue for marketing.
Create a 7- to 10-slide presentation with speaker notes, persuading local politicians to spend the tax revenue on the local hospitality industry.
Highlight the benefits of hospitality and the different areas that could benefit.
Include items such as:

System Analysis and Design
/in Uncategorized /by JosephConstruct a system analysis paper based on your weekly presentations. Please note this is an individual paper. The paper should represent the research and recommendations you have performed for the proposed business information system over the previous four weeks in a cohesive format. Your paper should demonstrate critical thought. The paper should be 2400 to 3000 words, excluding the title, diagrams, and reference pages. The structure of the paper should be as follows:
The introduction should familiarize the reader with the proposed business information system and outline the major points that you will cover in the paper. It should include your thesis statement. If you need assistance with writing a thesis statement, visit the Ashford Writing Center’s website for help.
Make the suggested changes to the PowerPoint assignments for Weeks One through Four based on the constructive feedback provided by your instructor. Do not simply copy and paste your previous assignments into your final paper. Read your writing and improve upon what you have already written to connect everything learned in this class. Be sure that your paper addresses the following points.
In your conclusion, restate your thesis statement. Review your conclusions. Include any ideas you have about the business information system that you did not already discuss.
Provide an APA-formatted reference list. In addition to the text, cite at least four additional scholarly references from the Ashford library to support your discussion.

In his essay on Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, 1941), James Naremore qualifies the film as “[…] a powerful example of film art. On a purely formal level, the picture is important for many reasons, among them its ingenious juggling of time and perspective, its carefully designed sound track, and its influential use of wide-angle, deep-focus photography” (322).
Explain each of these “reasons,” or elements of Welles’s filmmaking, evoked by Naremore. What are these specific film strategies Welles implements and how do they contribute to the telling of the story and the development of the director’s vision and main commentary?
In other words, focusing on the narrative structure and on specific techniques of sound and cinematography, explain how Welles uses them and the particular effects and meanings they create.
Illustrate your explanations with the close analysis of 3 or 4 precise scenes.

ITP2 UMUC Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
/in Uncategorized /by JosephThe purpose of this Individual project is to develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the ITP project. This involves hierarchically itemizing all the tasks that, when completed, result in the successful completion of the project defined in the charter and other documents. Put another way, the scope of the project as defined in the charter and other documents will be accomplished if and when all the WBS tasks are accomplished.
In addition (an extension beyond typical WBSs), each work task in the WBS must also have its work duration estimated. That is, we need to know an estimate of how long it will take to do each task. (Group summary tasks higher up in the hierarchy need not be estimated, as later on, their durations will be automatically rolled up and calculated by MS Project.)
Since this is an Individual project you must do your own work.
