Bell’s palsy vs Acute Stroke

Needs to lead back to your basic anatomy

a.) Differentiate between how the patient presents with either a bell’s palsy vs an acute stroke (specifically their mouth, eyes, and forehead)

b.) Understand and present on the innervation of the face (i.e. muscles of the upper face come from both sides of the brain where the innervation of the lower face comes from the opposite side of the brain only, thus a lesion of the cortex on one side =weakness in the contralateral lower face only. Lesion of the facial nerve (bell’s palsy)= weakness in the ipsilateral upper and lower face.)
